Since the start of this career, my heart has fallen deeply in love with geriatric care. This population has so much to offer and they are so dynamic and enjoyable to work with. They offer wisdom, insight, and a laughter & joy that you only can really understand if you’ve worked in this population.
One thing I’ve noticed for certain is that not all care facilities are made equal. And not all therapists have the same experience in skilled nursing that I have. There is a negative stigma around working in the SNF setting; things like high productivity standards, poor managerial support, lack of education and training, and quick burnout/turnaround.
If you’ve found yourself in a SNF just trying to get your feet underneath you, or you’ve lost the love for the job that you once had, this little corner of the internet is for you. This is place to collaborate and connect. To receive tools and learn strategies that will help you as a Practitioner provide quality interventions that promote health and safe aging in Residents, Patients, and Clients alike.
I hope you find this space helpful, like a little support system you might not have know you had. I’m so glad you’re here.

Career To Date
I graduated from Husson University with my B.S. in Healthcare Studies in 2016 and my M.S. in Occupational Therapy in 2017. I started working in Skilled Nursing (SNF) that fall and have never looked back.

2018-2019
My coworkers and I implemented various long-term care programs including daily exercise/mobility classes, Sensory Integration programs, and Music & Memory.
2020-2021
I continued to work in skilled nursing through the height of the pandemic. In 2021 I acted as interim Rehab Director for a small SNF rehabilitation department,.
2022-present
In the summer of 2022 I transitioned to PRN, simultaneously creating this online space to share resources with other clinicians. I’m still working PRN in several SNFs in my community.

When I’m not in the SNF
I’m grabbing coffee or ice cream with my husband, spending hours over a jigsaw puzzle, or exploring our NH backyard.
