Apple Picking as a Rehabilitative Strategy is Just the Best.
as if we had any question of this. i had the opportunity to tag along on an apple picking outing this week and it was just the best. wandering across uneven terrain, engaging that functional reach, visual scanning, and attention to task. experiencing all the sweet smells, the fresh air, and of course sampling the various apples. then getting on the bus and heading back the facility loaded up with cider donuts. the best.

I’ve been a Physical Therapy Patient for about a Month Now.
you’ve likely seen on stories that i’ve been popping into an outpatient PT appointment once a week. i’ve been having some vertigo and issues with my neck, which is how i ended up in this situation. you’d think being a therapist this wouldn’t be that novel to me. but we’re always learning and understanding more and more about the intricacies of therapy. for me, this is no exception.
The Fall Vibes are Strong in New Hampshire these Days.
we took a morning off this week to pop out to some of our favorite local spots, including the local farmer’s market for some cider and honeycrisp apples. the foliage has to be at peak right now, if not pretty close. the drives to work each morning seem to be more and more colorful and i’m just loving it.

Weather Changes Impact our Residents just as Much as they Impact Us.
the later-half of this week has been rather rainy. personally i love it. but my residents have been sleepy. the get-up-and-go got up and went which has made sessions a little slower and a little less spunky. and that’s okay. if you learn anything from my content, i hope you understand that dementia care requires an intuition into the emotional and sensory needs of each resident. we have to tune ourselves to the residents, not the other way around.
Friday Funnies are the Best on the Memory Unit.
Today was just one of the best days. The residents were in a good (and sort of silly mood) which created this relaxed, familial feeling on the unit. We were hugging, laughing, joking, holding hands, and collaboratively working on a decorative project right up until lunch. It was just the best.
