It certainly feels like a preparatory weekend (in many ways). We’ve got the Superbowl on Sunday, and Valentine’s Day just 2 days later.
Are you doing anything to celebrate the Superbowl? I honestly can’t tell you who’s playing or who’s performing for the halftime show. I’m usually just here for the snacks, and this year is no exception. We’re going to try and make these buffalo chicken eggrolls, and we picked up a few dips to snack on throughout the afternoon (even though I honestly don’t think we’ll even watch the game!).
Is your facility doing anything to celebrate the Superbowl with the Residents? I never work on Sunday’s so I’ve never experienced the Superbowl parties, but in years past my facilities have usually done a little watching party with snacks. Seems like Valentine’s Day is usually the bigger celebration.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, what are you doing with your Residents to celebrate? My primary facility has tons of decorations up throughout the unit. Yesterday the main afternoon activity time was used to fill out Valentine’s cards for one another. The staff picked up the basic Valentine’s that we used to get as kids, you know? It actually turned into a really great therapy session with a few of my Residents on the long-term care unit.
If you’re feeling stuck for Valentine’s Day ideas that are also skilled, I’ve got a post coming tomorrow with a few suggestions and inspos (stay tuned!).
If you missed out on the conversation (or any other content from this week), I’ve got it all compiled here.
