“Got any plans for Memorial Day Weekend?”
Isn’t that kind of a funny question? A day intended to remember the fallen is also the unofficial start to summer, with cookouts and swimming pools and campfires.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good day outside to kick off the summer. And this year, we are in fact eating some good food, spending the day outside, and enjoying the sunshine with some family.
But I’ve served some wonderful men and women who sacrificed much to fight for the freedom I have to do those very things. Men and women who felt like they had little to give by the time I met them, but who offered so much.
So here’s to remembering those who have sacrificed much to give us little joys of cookouts and swimming pools all summer long. And if you’re serving Residents who are also Veterans, remember to celebrate and appreciate them always.
If you missed out on anything from this week, or are looking for some fun ways to connect to the OT community, I’ve got it all compiled here.
