We’re gearing up for a fun-filled family weekend for the 4th of July! I’ve got work off for the long weekend, starting today, and I’m so grateful. It was honestly a little hard to focus this week at work thinking about all the fun ahead of us this weekend. Do you have any plans for the holiday?
If you missed out on anything from this week, or are looking for some fun ways to connect to the OT community, I’ve got it all compiled here.
This Week’s Recap
Instagram Reels:
Something I will NEVER Say to Someone Living with Dementia
An Easy Way to Spruce Up a Long-Term Care Residence
Celebrating Independence Day on The Memory Unit
Ways to Use a Beach Ball in Therapy Sessions
Some Great Therapy Products:
I recently discovered @memorylanetv. They are an on-demand tv network designed for individuals living with dementia. Their subscriptions offer hundreds of hours of plot-free media and television, and they also sell some great sensory kits. (link non-affiliate)
We talked about Sticker-by-Number books this week, and if you’re interested in grabbing a book or two there’s lots of variety here to choose from (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases).
Someone to Follow if You Don’t Already:
@lakeshorelady – I mentioned Lauren’s account a few weeks ago . She’s a lifestyle and fashion blogger based in Chicago, and she recently shared a Reel describing her upcoming endeavors to cook through her Nana’s recipe books. This is such a sweet idea, and something that harmonizes so beautifully with a lot of the concepts we talk about here. She’s started working her way through these recipes and it’s been so fun to follow along!
@haidynshope – Haidyn is a girl living with a disease that’s commonly referred to as ‘childhood dementia’. Her Mom, Carrie, shares Haidyn’s journey on Instagram, bringing awareness to the realities of this disease
Have a great weekend!
