Can we talk about this summer for a second? There has been so much going on this summer – we’re really cramming it all in. Getting outside more. Making time for one another. Visiting with extended family. Celebrating holidays. Taking vacation. Working near-fulltime covering other therapists’ vacations. Medicare Casemix. Getting established in a small group with our church. Taking care of the house. Playing and having fun on the weekends. Making content to share online, in hopes of helping others. Not to mention just finding the space for rest.
Hear me that I’m not complaining. These are all wonderful, life-giving things. It’s just a lot of wonderful, life-giving things crammed into this 3-months known as summer. Makes a girl think about how she is prioritizing things, where she’s setting boundaries, and how she’s honoring the Commandment of rest to ensure her soul stays connected and cared for.
I’m certainly not perfect at the whole life-balance thing. But I feel like I’ve gotten better at it over the last few years (the last 6 months especially), and I certainly hope it’s true.
At any rate, we’ve got a plan-free weekend ahead of us. We desperately need to do some cleaning of our long-term stuff storage this summer while the town dump is still open, so maybe we’ll set out to tackle that.
If you missed out on anything from this week, or are looking for some fun ways to connect to the OT community, I’ve got it all compiled here.

We were talking about this Elevating Toilet Seat at work this week – I truly think it is such a great invention, and although it’s an investment, it’s absolutely worth suggesting to your facilities and your Clients.
Been trying to power through with some CEUs in my ‘free time’ this summer. I use ContinuED; it’s $99 for the year to get unlimited access to courses in a wide variety of topics. And they’ll share your credits right to CEU Broker
Someone to Follow if You Don’t Already:
@bridgetownmusictherapy – Alexis is a music therapist sharing strategies and resources to utilize music in dementia care
@thenoteninjas – I gave a guest lecture last month for Nicole and Stephanie all about evaluations and documentation in dementia care and it was so fun! They offer lots of great resources and a membership for more in-depth support
Have a great weekend!
