1. Mobility Designs Custom Banner: these are personalized, easy to clean, easy to install, and comes with everything you need to hang it across the front of any walker or wheelchair (these technically are not sold on Amazon, but they’re made by a fellow OT!)
2. Shrink Wrap Decorating Sheets: these really caught my eye! They remind me of the shrink wrap sleeves that used to come with Easter Egg Decorating Kits, you remember those? It’s a plastic sheet that you cut to fit the various aspects of the walker. Once cut to size and wrapped around the walker leg or handle, you use a hair dryer to shrink the wrap onto the surface of the walker until it fits tightly. Comes in different colors and patterns!
3. Cushioned Handle Covers: I find Residents just overall enjoy the comfort these provide, and the bright colors work as a nice visual cue for appropriate hand placement on the walker!
4. Cup Holder/Phone Holder Combo: the versions of these that most facilities get from medical suppliers just aren’t sturdy enough for me. And I like how this one has the added little slot for a cell phone, as more and more Residents have their own cell phones but don’t always safely carry a phone while maneuvering a walker
5. Tennis Ball Replacements: these little plastic coasters will fit more snug around the diameter of a walker leg, are designed for indoor and outdoor surfaces, and won’t collect dust, dirt, and/or water like tennis balls do
6. Organization Pouch: these kinds of pouches offer a little bit more space and visual variety to a walker than a traditional basket! Patterns can be a little challenging for individuals in moderate or severe stages of dementia, so keep that in mind. But overall, they’re a great option and can give the Resident a little more comfort and autonomy when using their walker
