Friday Feels // 6.14.2024

hey there, friend! this is normally the spot where I share a little recap of the past week. but obviously we haven’t been here for a while, so let’s catch up.

the last time I posted regularly was in november. i intentionally took the holiday season off from posting. we had so much going on, and because this is a side-gig, posting and writing took the back burner. i had every intention of picking things back up in the new year, but then january passed, then february, and now suddenly it’s mid-june.

i’m looking forward to getting back into a groove with writing and creating as we move into the summer.

i’ve been working a lot more hours over the last several months, covering some management-level meetings here and there, doing lots of evaluations across several buildings. i’ve been floating off of the skilled nursing units and onto assisted living and independent living a bit more than usual. and i’ve picked up and extra day of work each week, bringing me back to a 5-day work week (icymi, i’ve been working 4 days a week for the last year or so).

one of the great things about OT is how much more there is to learn as each month of work passes. new strategies to trial. new research to review. new evidenced-based care to implement.

to date, this corner of the internet has been focused on dementia care. and that will remain consistent. but i’d like to add in more discussion and conversation around general skilled nursing level care.

i’d love to hear your thoughts, your questions, your ideas. may this space be one where we can all collaborate and connect, learning from one another each day.

i’m grateful you’re here, friend. let’s go!

I’m Allison

I’ve been an occupational therapist for six years, and have spent all of those years working in skilled nursing. This community is a space where we collaborate and share all things dementia care, skilled nursing, adult rehabilitation, and long-term care. I’m so glad you’re here.
